The science of earthquakes (seismology) is considered part of another, more general and comprehensive science. It is the science of geophysics, which studies the various physical phenomena associated with the Earth, with its solid and fluid parts.
Seismology is studied through three main axes: through observations of seismic waves on the Earth's surface, laboratory experiments, as well as through theoretical mathematical analyzes and research.
