-The cost of employees in terms of salaries and other benefits is among the largest costs in any company along with cost of goods sold (cost of sales), rent, and depreciation. If you work in a company that produces goods and this cost is part of the cost of goods sold or part of operating costs, this has a double impact on you. Addressing and reporting these costs correctly is key to analysis and decision making. This course begins with an introduction to the Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, and Payroll departments. The preparation and calculation of salaries will be addressed, including the necessary controls and matters that must be verified in advance to ensure that the data is used correctly. This course also enhances knowledge of appropriate controls and procedures for work flow to achieve better efficiency in the department.
-Employee benefits, their impact on the organization, and how to conduct an analysis of salaries and benefits using Excel will be discussed, in addition to discussing accounting, internal and external auditing, their relationship with human resources, payroll, and the data they may request. This course emphasizes the need for confidentiality in the payroll department and the necessity of sharing data with others based on company policy. This cycle ends with a department budget and a larger budget for the company's payroll and benefits costs.
